Here’s to You in 2023

The new year is a time of resolutions. One resolution we all can make is to create self-care routines to help us become our best selves. Here are 10 tips to aid you:

Get a good night’s sleep
According to the National Institutes of Health, a good night’s sleep (at least seven hours) will improve your brain performance, mood, and health.

Eat healthier
Plan your meals at the beginning of the week and grocery shop accordingly. Try to include more whole foods and less processed ones.

Exercise to feel better
Find a daily routine you enjoy — walking the dog, biking with a friend, or a moderate exercise program at home or the gym. It will invigorate your mind as well as your body.

Make time to relax
Relaxation could be listening to soothing music, reading a book, meditating, or just taking a hot bath. Do what works for you.

Reduce social media time
Social media can be addictive and distracting. Turn off notifications and uninstall or set time limits for your social media apps to reduce the urge to check them constantly.

Consider volunteering
Nonprofit organizations welcome helping hands. Volunteering can help build self-esteem and connect you with others while benefiting a good cause.

Engage your mind
Puzzles, crossword puzzles, and other games can stimulate your brain, activate your memory, and promote problem-solving skills.

Keep a daily journal
De-stress by recording your thoughts and feelings in a journal. It will increase self-awareness, give you a sense of order, and provide a timeline of your daily progress while energizing creativity.

Reward yourself
Schedule a massage or spa day to escape from your day-to-day routine. Purchase a clothing item you’ve put off buying, go to a movie or concert, or indulge in a delectable delight.

Be positive
A positive outlook can improve your health, meet personal goals, and increase your career success chances. Your outward happiness can be contagious and make those around you cheerful.
