The Team Behind NJM’s “No Jingles or Mascots” Campaign
In 2021, NJM Insurance Group unveiled a new advertising campaign, which was different than anything the Company had done before. Boldly critical of the clichés of insurance marketing, “No Jingles or Mascots” educates drivers and homeowners about NJM’s unique value.
As Vice President of Marketing, Cam led the launch of “No Jingles or Mascots” to raise awareness of NJM in new markets. His team includes specialists in marketing, events, digital platforms, data analysis, and project management. In addition, employees in IT, Corporate Communications, Customer Experience, and Sales help to support the marketing team. NJM also partners with the Brownstein Group, NJM’s advertising agency, to produce the ads.
“NJM now reaches wide audiences, and we want to create campaigns that resonate across various channels,” Cam said. “The diverse perspectives of NJM’s employees and partners allow us to enhance our creativity and innovation, connect with many groups of people, and stand out in a competitive and crowded market.”
A typical “No Jingles or Mascots” ad presents a hypothetical mascot or musical artist. These characters may find themselves in situations that disrupt a driver’s or homeowner’s day or an insurer’s business operations. In contrast, NJM Insurance Group operates without gimmicks, focusing on protecting policyholders’ biggest investments, like their homes and cars. The advertisements attest the most important thing is not flashy ads — it’s knowing you have the right coverage with an insurer you trust.
Cam attributes the success of the campaign to the hardworking employees at NJM and Brownstein.
“I don’t see my single voice as being a change agent, but rather the voices of our collective team,” Cam said. “We have all worked together to develop a campaign that underlines the customer–centered experience NJM provides.”
Cam applies his knowledge of marketing to carry NJM’s message to new and longstanding markets. In addition to advertising efforts, Cam leads NJM’s partnerships with the Cleveland Browns, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Somerset Patriots, and Villanova University.
Cam is a graduate of Loyola University and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, PA. He and his team help to lead marketing classes at Chambers of Commerce in PA for new and upcoming business owners.
He finds meaning by taking on new challenges that put him outside of his comfort zone.
